This was the ultimate in Abruzzese jewellery until the end of the 18th century. The “Presentosa” is a pendant made of gold or silver wire. It represented the promise of marriage to the young women to whom it was given by the future mother-in-law or by the groom. Its name originates from gift – “present” – with which the suitor committed himself, before leaving for the paths of transhumance, in a promise of marriage towards the young chosen woman.
